How pH Affects Peptide Stability
Most research peptides exhibit maximum stability at slightly acidic pH (4.0–6.0). At extreme pH values (below 2 or above 10), peptide bonds can hydrolyse at an accelerated rate, leading to fragmentation. Researchers should always consider the isoelectric point (pI) of their peptide when selecting a storage buffer.
Temperature Considerations
Lyophilised peptides stored at -20°C remain stable for up to 48 months. Once reconstituted, stability drops significantly — most peptides should be used within 2–8 weeks when stored at 2–8°C.
