How We Test Peptide Purity: HPLC and Mass Spectrometry Explained
Quality assurance for research peptides relies on two primary analytical techniques: High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) for purity determination, and Mass Spectrometry (MS) for identity confirmation.
HPLC Analysis
Reverse-phase HPLC separates peptide components based on their hydrophobicity. The relative peak areas in the resulting chromatogram allow calculation of purity as a percentage. Our peptides are manufactured to a minimum of ≥99% purity by HPLC.
Mass Spectrometry
Electrospray ionisation mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) confirms the molecular weight of the peptide matches the expected mass, providing definitive identity verification. This confirms you are receiving the correct peptide, not a contaminant or mislabelled compound.
Certificate of Analysis
Each product page on our website includes a Certificate of Analysis (CoA) from our compounding partner, showing HPLC purity data and MS identity confirmation for that batch.
